Love Letter

In Tokyo in 1950, five years after the war, Reikichi Mayumi (Masayuki Mori) has come home from the front and earns his living writing English love letters for Japanese women to their American soldier sweethearts. Kinuyo Tanaka, making her first film as director, watches the customers bring him their feelings and their small sums of money. Reikichi puts everyone else's longing into words while he keeps hunting for Michiko (Yoshiko Kuga), the woman he lost.
