“She loved too much. He didn't love anyone. One fine day, their paths met.”

In 1984, Sarah Lawson (Gena Rowlands) and her brother Robert Harmon (John Cassavetes) come back into each other's lives after years apart, both worn down by the people who left them. Cassavetes plays Robert himself, and he and Rowlands give two lonely people who lean on each other because nobody else is left. Neither one has anywhere else to go, and each is all the other has.
