Ten years of a love affair begin with a promise made in high school, when Lu Qinyang (Qu Chuxiao) and Ling Yiyao (Zhang Jingyi) pledge to marry each other. Mo Sha adapts a long Douban post titled "My Girlfriend of Ten Years Is Getting Married Tomorrow," and the question hanging over the film is how a pledge that young could end up there. Lu keeps carrying that promise through every obstacle the years put in his way.
