Loving

“All love is created equal.”

Richard Loving (Joel Edgerton) is a quiet bricklayer in rural Virginia who does not say much and does not need to. In 1958 he marries Mildred (Ruth Negga), the woman he loves, and is arrested for it, because the state forbids their marriage. Jeff Nichols keeps the two of them close in small rooms and on porches, where a hand on a shoulder says more than any speech about the law.
