Lu Over the Wall

(2017)Directed by Masaaki Yuasa112 min · PGAnimation, Adventure, Music, Fantasy, Family
“Your "love" changes me.”

Kai Ashimoto (voice of Shota Shimoda) is a gloomy middle school student in a small fishing village, and all he wants is to be left alone with the music he makes at home. Then he meets Lu (voice of Kanon Tani), a young mermaid, and the quiet he has built around himself starts to give way. Masaaki Yuasa animates the film in loose, rubbery lines that bend and stretch to the beat.
