Lucky Luciano

“The real story behind Lucky Luciano, the high priest of crime”

Charles "Lucky" Luciano (Gian Maria Volonté) wants to run the Mafia alone, and he has forty rival bosses killed to do it. A few years later he is in prison, then pardoned in 1946 and sent back to Sicily, where he starts building his influence again. Francesco Rosi follows Luciano, Colonel Poletti (Vincent Gardenia) and the narcotics men, asking why the American government let a man like this go free.
