Izzy Maurer (Harvey Keitel) is a jazz saxophonist whose career ends the night he is accidentally shot. Then he comes across a mysterious package, and soon he is in love with Celia Burns (Mira Sorvino), an aspiring actress. Paul Auster follows the pair as strange, dreamlike events close in, and everything the two of them have just found is suddenly in danger.
