Lust, Caution

“To kill the enemy, she would have to capture his heart... and break her own.”

In Japanese-occupied Shanghai during World War II, a group of Chinese students plans to kill Mr. Yee (Tony Leung Chiu-wai), an official in the puppet government. Wong Chia Chi (Tang Wei) is sent in under the name Mrs. Mak to win his trust and draw him close, and Ang Lee lets the seduction unfold slowly. Beneath the plot is a plain question of what happens when a role requires you to feel what you are pretending.
