The Superstition Mountains of Arizona hold the legend of the Lost Dutchman mine, a gold strike that men have chased across the desert for generations. Jacob "Dutch" Walz (Glenn Ford) is set on finding it, and S. Sylvan Simon sends him toward Julia Thomas (Ida Lupino), a married treasure hunter chasing the same mine. Dutch falls for her, and she is already willing to double-cross her own husband for the gold.
