Lust for Life

Vincent van Gogh (Kirk Douglas) wants to paint the world as he truly sees it, and he wants it badly enough that failure keeps knocking him flat. His brother Theo (James Donald) sends money so he can keep working, which carries Vincent from Holland to France and into a restless friendship with Paul Gauguin (Anthony Quinn). Vincente Minnelli follows a man whose talent and mind pull in opposite directions, and each canvas costs him more to start.
