Luther

“Rebel. Genius. Liberator.”

Martin Luther (Joseph Fiennes), a young German monk, nails his objections to the church's sale of forgiveness, and the papers spread faster than anyone expected. Johann Tetzel (Alfred Molina) keeps selling indulgences while Girolamo Aleander (Jonathan Firth) is sent to bring the monk to heel. Eric Till follows Luther from his vows in 1505 to the trial in 1530, ending on a man in a friar's robe, a quill in his hand, the page not yet dry.
