“The American Dream Sucks”

Scott Bartlett (Rory Culkin) is fifteen on Long Island in the early eighties and wants one thing: Adriana Bragg (Emma Roberts), the girl across the way. Meanwhile his father Mickey (Alec Baldwin) is selling real estate, his mother Brenda (Jill Hennessy) is unhappy, and Lyme disease is spreading. Derick Martini, who wrote the film with his brother Steven, tells it from a teenager's eye level, so the adults seem to reveal themselves a little at a time.
