Maborosi

Yumiko (Makiko Esumi) has a husband, a baby and an ordinary life, and then one day it comes apart with no warning and no reason anyone can give her. She keeps living, and years later, in a new marriage to Tamio (Takashi Naito), the question of why it happened has not left her. Hirokazu Kore-eda films all of it from a distance, in long still shots that let the quiet do the work.
