Macario

“Macabre, haunting and wonderful”

Macario (Ignacio López Tarso) is a hungry peasant in New Spain who has one wish on the Day of the Dead, to eat a whole turkey by himself. Three strangers ask him to share it, and he turns away the Devil and God but not Death (Enrique Lucero). Roberto Gavaldón follows what the bottle of healing water does to Macario's life, and to the wife (Pina Pellicer) who cooked the bird and stayed hungry beside him.
