MacArthur

(1977)Directed by Joseph Sargent130 min · PGDrama, History, War
“Where the legend ends and the man begins.”

Douglas MacArthur (Gregory Peck) wants to be remembered as the general who beat the Japanese in the Pacific, and in 1942, with Bataan about to fall, he has little to show for it. Joseph Sargent follows him through ten years of command, told in flashback as he returns to West Point. Peck stands in the old general's uniform at the academy, the cadets around him, the memory of Bataan behind him.
