Machuca

“Two boys observe a political coup in their native Chile.”

Gonzalo Infante (Matías Quer) is a boy in Santiago who wants nothing more than to keep his place at the prestigious St. Patrick school, where Father McEnroe (Ernesto Malbrán) has begun admitting children from the slums. One of them is Pedro Machuca (Ariel Mateluna), the son of the cleaning lady in Gonzalo's own home, and the two become friends. Andrés Wood tells it at a boy's height, with the adults and the country's quarrels mostly out of focus.
