“A Giant of a movie”

In the American Southwest of the late 1860s, Marshal MacKenna (Gregory Peck) is the only man who has seen a map to a gold vein on Apache land. The bandit Colorado (Omar Sharif) kidnaps him to get at it, and other parties start closing in, while the Apache work to keep the place undisturbed. J. Lee Thompson shot it in Super Panavision 70 and Technicolor, with a Quincy Jones score behind the chase.
