On the colony planet Eden, two test pilots strap into rival prototype fighters, Isamu Alva Dyson (Takumi Yamazaki) in the YF-19 and Guld Goa Bowman (Unsho Ishizuka) in the YF-21. They grew up as friends, and the U.N. wants one of the two planes to replace the VF-11 Thunderbolt. Shoji Kawamori and Shinichiro Watanabe follow a loose cannon and a half-Zentradi flier whose old grudges keep leaking into the flights.
