Macunaima

“My! Such laziness!”

Macunaíma (Grande Otelo) is born fully grown to a poor family in a Brazilian jungle village, and after a spell he wakes up white (Paulo José). He leaves for São Paulo with his brothers, where he turns dandy and falls for Ci (Dina Sfat), a revolutionary. Joaquim Pedro de Andrade plays the whole trip deadpan, and what Macunaíma learns in the city proves worth very little back home.
