Mad to Be Normal

RD Laing (David Tennant) is a Scottish psychiatrist who wants to treat people in the grip of madness without drugs, locks or electric shocks. In the 1960s he opens Kingsley Hall in East London, a house where patients and doctors live together, among them Angie Wood (Elisabeth Moss) and Jim (Gabriel Byrne). Robert Mullan shoots the house in grainy, period-worn texture, so its crowded rooms feel lived in and a little out of control.
