Madadayo
In postwar Tokyo, the writer and professor Hyakken Uchida (Tatsuo Matsumura) retires from teaching, and his former students refuse to let him drift off alone. Every year they gather for his birthday and raise a glass, and he answers their toast with the same shout of "Not yet!" Kurosawa, making his last film, tells it in small comic scenes and leaves the quiet to the old professor and his wife (Kyōko Kagawa).
