“They weren't born in the wild... They were shipped there.”

Four animals slip out of the Central Park Zoo and end up washed ashore on Madagascar, a long way from the feeding schedule and the glass walls they know. Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath put Alex the lion (Ben Stiller) and Marty the zebra (Chris Rock) at the center, with Melman (David Schwimmer) and Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith) along for the trip. Alex and Marty have been best friends for years, and the wild is about to test how well they actually know each other.
