Madame DuBarry
“A Mighty Epoch of the Screen”
Jeanne Vaubernier (Pola Negri) is a young Parisian milliner who attracts the notice of Graf Jean du Barry (Eduard von Winterstein) and, through him, of Louis XV (Emil Jannings). Ernst Lubitsch made the film at the Tempelhof Studios in Berlin, with Kurt Richter's sets crowding the court around her. She rises from the shop into the king's company as Madame du Barry, loved by Armand De Foix (Harry Liedtke) and watched by the Duke of Choiseul (Reinhold Schünzel).
