Made in Dagenham
“In the fight for equal rights, an ordinary woman achieves something extraordinary.”
In 1968, Rita O'Grady (Sally Hawkins) leads the women who stitch car seat covers at the Ford plant in Dagenham out on strike. Nigel Cole puts them in a hot, cramped sewing room, with union man Albert Passingham (Bob Hoskins) and Employment Secretary Barbara Castle (Miranda Richardson) pulled in as the walkout spreads. The question underneath is plain and ordinary: what a woman's hour of work is worth next to a man's.
