Antonio Badalamenti (Alberto Sordi) runs a factory floor in Milan and wants nothing more than a quiet holiday in Sicily with his Northern wife Marta (Norma Bengell) and their daughters. The visit goes sour once an old oath to Don Vincenzo (Ugo Attanasio) comes due, and Alberto Lattuada lets the comedy sit right beside it. Marta takes in the village, the relatives, the heat, and begins to wonder who her husband was before she met him.
