“A terrifying love story.”

Corky Withers (Anthony Hopkins) is a ventriloquist trying to get back to the girl he knew in high school, and his dummy Fats keeps talking over him in a voice nastier than his own. Richard Attenborough puts Corky in a room with Peggy Ann Snow (Ann-Margret), where the rest of the cast, Burgess Meredith included, can only watch the two of them. Underneath the act is a plain question of who is speaking when a man's voice is no longer his own.
