Malcolm X

“Scholar, convict, leader, disciple, hipster, father, hustler, minister, black man, every man.”

Malcolm X (Denzel Washington) is sent to prison in the 1950s, and there, at his lowest, a fellow inmate named Baines (Albert Hall) introduces him to the teachings of the Nation of Islam. Spike Lee follows him out of his cell and into the movement under Elijah Muhammad (Al Freeman Jr.). His wife Betty Shabazz (Angela Bassett) stands beside him while his words draw followers and enemies alike, and the cost of speaking that loudly keeps rising.
