Mali Twist

Samba Touré (Stéphane Bak) is a young socialist in Bamako in 1960, trading dances to imported rock and roll for the work of building a new Mali. On a mission to the bush he meets Lara (Alicia Da Luz Gomes), who is being married off against her will, and she slips away with him to the city. Robert Guédiguian keeps the two of them close together while a husband searches for her and the Revolution begins to ask more than either expected.
