Madison Mitchell (Annabelle Wallis) is a woman who sees murders while she is awake, the victims and the killings arriving in her head as vivid, bodily visions. Then she learns each one is happening somewhere for real, and that the killer is tied to a part of her past she cannot account for. James Wan stages the violence with a loud, overheated hand, closer to a nightmare than a procedural.
