“History of the Brave”

Every twelve years, the Mamankam festival fills the banks of the Bharathappuzha at Tirunavaya in Malabar, and the film is set in the 18th century, in the last stretch of that tradition. Chandroth Valiya Panicker (Mammootty) leads the warriors known as Chaaverukal, who plot to overthrow the Samoothiri, with Unni Mukundan among those fighting beside him. Padmakumar M stages it as a large spectacle of crowds and combat, and keeps the action moving at a hard run.
