Mamma Roma

In 1962 Rome, Mamma Roma (Anna Magnani) leaves behind years of street work with enough saved to buy a fruit stand and send for the sixteen-year-old son, Ettore (Ettore Garofolo), she left as a baby. Pier Paolo Pasolini follows her as she tries to settle them into a respectable life. Her former pimp, Carmine (Franco Citti), threatens to expose her past, and the boy seems headed toward crime.
