Man of Marble

Agnieszka (Krystyna Janda) is a young Polish filmmaker making her diploma film about Mateusz Birkut, a bricklayer who was held up as a model worker in the 1950s and then vanished from public view. Andrzej Wajda sends her through old newsreels and the memories of the people who knew him, some of whom would rather she stopped asking. What she is chasing is a man two decades gone, and the one person at her side is the cameraman Witek (Michał Tarkowski).
