Man of the West

(1958)Directed by Anthony Mann100 minWestern
“IN THE ROLE THAT FITS HIM LIKE A GUN FITS A HOLSTER! GARY COOPER as the MAN OF THE WEST”

Link Jones (Gary Cooper) is a reformed outlaw riding east to Fort Worth with his town's money, hoping to hire a schoolteacher. When a train robbery leaves him stranded with the singer Billie Ellis (Julie London) and a gambler, Sam Beasley, he walks them to the shack where he grew up and finds the old gang still in it. Anthony Mann frames the dry, empty country as wide and exposed, with nowhere in it to hide.
