Manchester by the Sea

“I can't beat it.”

A phone call sends Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck), a janitor living alone in a basement apartment, back to the town he left after his older brother Joe (Kyle Chandler) dies. He is named guardian of his 16-year-old nephew Patrick (Lucas Hedges), which means staying in the place where he once lost his family and his standing. Lonergan leaves Lee a plain choice, to stay in Manchester for the boy or go, and either way someone pays.
