In a struggling department store in 1987, Jonathan Switcher (Andrew McCarthy), an unemployed artist, takes a job as assistant window dresser. He finds a mannequin he once designed, and she comes to life as Emmy (Kim Cattrall), an Egyptian held under an ancient spell. Michael Gottlieb, directing for the first time, builds the window displays into the film's showpieces while Jonathan and Emmy fall in love and a scheming manager circles.
