Manto

In 1940s Bombay, the writer Saadat Hasan Manto (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is widely read, and he drinks and talks with the film people who fill his stories, among them the star Shyam (Tahir Raj Bhasin). Then sectarian violence spreads across the country, and Manto leaves for Lahore, where his friends are gone and nobody will print his work. Nandita Das follows a writer who will not write anything but the truth, even as his country is divided.
