Count Christian von Meruh (Udo Kier) rides into an Austrian village as the young apprentice to Lord Cumberland (Herbert Lom), a witch-hunter sent to root out the guilty. Michael Armstrong follows him as the accusations come fast and the torture grows crueler, and Christian begins to doubt the work he was trained to do. Albino (Reggie Nalder) watches from the back of the room, and the executioner Jeff Wilkens (Herbert Fux) goes about his tasks without a word.
