Marnie

(1964)Directed by Alfred Hitchcock130 min · PGThriller, Mystery, Romance
“The more he loved her . . . The more she hated him . . . For trying to unravel her secret!”

Marnie Edgar (Tippi Hedren) wants the money and wants to be no one for long, so she takes jobs under false names, empties the safe, and moves on. Her new employer Mark Rutland (Sean Connery) works out what she is doing and, instead of turning her in, makes her marry him, sure he can fix her. Hitchcock stages it in studio-made rooms and painted skies, where the colors feel too bright to trust.
