Married Life

“Do you know what really goes on in the mind of the person with whom you sleep?”

Harry Allen (Chris Cooper) is a mild, decent man who has fallen in love with a younger woman, Kay Nesbitt (Rachel McAdams), and wants a life with her. He can't bring himself to divorce his wife Pat (Patricia Clarkson), because he believes the humiliation would crush her, so he settles on a gentler way out: he will kill her. Ira Sachs sets the plan inside a tidy, polite marriage, with Harry's friend Richard Langley (Pierce Brosnan) watching from close by.
