Mars Attacks!

“Nice planet. We'll take it!”

In 1996, a fleet of Martian spacecraft settles over the world's major cities, and everyone waits to learn whether the visitors really have "come in peace." President James Dale (Jack Nicholson) takes the word of science professor Donald Kessler (Pierce Brosnan) that the mission is friendly, and Tim Burton, working from the old Topps trading cards, fills the screen with a cast to match. Dale stands before the cameras with a welcome speech and a country watching him.
