Martial Arts of Shaolin

Lin Zhi Ming (Jet Li) is a young man in ancient China whose father was killed by a nefarious magistrate, and he heads for the Northern Shaolin temple to learn the fighting that might answer it. Lau Kar-leung, who made this as his only film with Li, fills the story with fast training, open-handed comedy and a crowd of monks and rivals to spar with. He stages the fights as set pieces built on weapons and footwork, and the camera stays wide enough to follow every step.
