“He could be the boy next door...”

Nobody is sure what Martin Mathias (John Amplas) is, least of all Martin, who insists he is a vampire and has no fangs, no cape, and no fear of daylight. He moves in with his elderly cousin Tada Cuda (Lincoln Maazel) in a small Pennsylvania town, where Cuda greets him as a curse come to the family. George A. Romero films the slow days in grainy, cold-looking light, with Martin walking through the town's streets.
