Martin (Hache)

“He doesn’t work. He doesn’t want to study. He’s not a bum. He wants to be free.”

Nineteen-year-old Martín, nicknamed Hache (Juan Diego Botto), is put on a plane from Argentina to Madrid after a drug overdose that nearly killed him. His father, Martín (Federico Luppi), is a film director who shares an apartment with his younger lover Alicia (Cecilia Roth) and his actor friend Dante (Eusebio Poncela). Aristarain gives the boy no easy welcome, and Hache has to make room for himself in a house where his father already has a life.
