Marvin's Room

(1996)Directed by Jerry Zaks98 min · PG-13Drama
“A story about the years that keep us apart... And the moments that bring us together.”

Bessie Wakefield (Diane Keaton) has spent twenty years caring for her bedridden father, Marvin (Hume Cronyn), and now needs a bone marrow donor after a leukemia diagnosis. The only hope is her sister Lee (Meryl Streep), who left long ago and hasn't called since, and who arrives with her troubled son Hank (Leonardo DiCaprio). Jerry Zaks sets the two women in the same house again, and what stands between them is two decades of silence.
