Mary

(1931)Directed by Alfred Hitchcock82 minMystery, Crime, Thriller

The actress Mary Baring (Olga Tschechowa) is found in a daze beside the body of a murdered colleague, and every piece of evidence points to her. On the jury sits Sir John Menier (Alfred Abel), who doubts the verdict and gives in to the pressure of the room. Hitchcock shot this German-language version on the same sets as Murder!, and the remorse that pulls Sir John toward Mary stays with him long after she has been condemned.
