Mary

“It takes courage to walk in the truth.”

A film about the life of Jesus has finished shooting, and the actress who played Mary Magdalene, Marie Palesi (Juliette Binoche), cannot make herself leave Bethlehem. The director who cast himself as Christ, Tony Childress (Matthew Modine), carries the role home. Abel Ferrara works in handheld close-ups and long stretches of prayer, pushing the camera in close to faces until they have nowhere to hide.
