Mary of Scotland

(1936)Directed by John Ford123 minDrama, History, Romance
“History called her "The Temptress"!”

Mary Stuart (Katharine Hepburn), newly widowed, sails home to Scotland in 1561 to claim the throne, and finds her half-brother and the Scottish lords already set against her. John Ford puts her in the cold, crowded halls of her own court, where every man at the table has his own idea of who should rule. Her real rival is Elizabeth Tudor (Florence Eldridge), the cousin in England whom Mary writes to and cannot trust.
