Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

(2003)Directed by Peter Weir138 min · PG-13Adventure, Drama, War
The courage to do the impossible lies in the hearts of men.

The year is 1805, and Captain Jack Aubrey (Russell Crowe) commands the HMS Surprise across the Indian Ocean during the Napoleonic Wars. His crew must pursue a French warship across vast empty water, hunted as much as hunters, with the ship's surgeon Dr. Stephen Maturin (Paul Bettany) tending wounds and collecting specimens between battles. At nightfall, the deck goes quiet except for the creak of rope and the small splash of the wake behind them.
