Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

It is 1805, and the British frigate HMS Surprise is badly mauled by a French warship that appears out of nowhere. Captain Jack Aubrey (Russell Crowe) sets off across two oceans after the enemy, whatever the pursuit does to his crew or to his friend, the ship's surgeon Stephen Maturin (Paul Bettany). Peter Weir keeps Aubrey in the frame with the damaged ship around him, the sails patched and the men still at their stations.
