“Men worshipped her like a goddess, only to be betrayed by a kiss!”

Mata Hari (Greta Garbo) is an exotic dancer and courtesan in Paris during the First World War, and she works as a spy for Germany. George Fitzmaurice follows her as she meets Lt. Alexis Rosanoff (Ramon Novarro), a young Russian pilot, and the work she has taken on is no longer the only thing she wants. Rosanoff trusts her completely, which leaves her caught between the man she has fallen for and the people she answers to.
