Matriarch

“The mother of all evil.”

Laura Birch (Jemima Rooper) wants to get clean and start over after surviving an overdose, but a strange illness follows her out of the hospital. She goes back to her childhood home to face what drove her there, and her mother Celia (Kate Dickie) is waiting inside. Ben Steiner builds a story where the thing hurting Laura may be older and closer to home than the addiction, and where the family you came from decides how well you can leave it.
